Juggling Two Jobs and Blogging
It has been several months since I wrote anything here on my blog. What happen? Where have I been? Did I lose interest? Well, let me try and answer those questions. Back in February I landed not one but two part-time jobs. Both provided a great opportunity to work more steadily, increase my income and sharpen my skills. Both aligned with my career background in disability nonprofits. Additionally, they were work from home positions with a flexible work schedule. I was excited and thought I could juggle both-blogging and working two jobs.
Well, after some time passed, I realized that was not quite true. When I would get off from work I was too tired, both mentally and physically, to do much of anything else which included blogging. I kept telling myself I am going to get back to writing but it didn’t happen. I even told myself write on the weekends but that didn’t work either. So, what has changed? About 3 major developments have transpired.
1. Marketing Internship ended

One of my jobs has ended because it was temporary. I was working as a marketing intern for Lights! Camera! Access! This is a nonprofit that focuses on helping people with disabilities pursue careers in the entertainment industry. During my internship I learned about the industry, and edited and wrote articles for their newsletter.
As for my other job, I am still employed. This job also focuses on the disability community. I work as an information and referral associate with the American Printing House for the Blind. I spend my days talking to people with vision loss giving them information to adjust and live with these changes.
2. Worked with a Functional Nutritionist

During these months of absent writing, I have been working on my health. I worked with a functional nutritionist who focused on my whole health not just what I was eating. We worked on my exercise, mental health, and sleep. She educated me about food and making better choices. Today, I have made some changes in my diet. I am gluten free and no longer eat much dairy or added sugars. This has reduced my food cravings, tiredness and internal inflammation that was causing major joint pain.
3. Started Hormone Replacement

I also started hormone replacement therapy because I am menopausal. This decision has taken me to another level of overall wellness and better health. I no longer have much joint pain. Along with using my CPAP machine I am sleeping better. I don’t feel as tired. These changes have increased my energy levels allowing me to come back to writing.
4. What’s Next?
Now I am writing this post and updating you on what has happened to me and where I have been. So, what’s next? Moving forward I plan on blogging again. It might not be at the same frequency as before. But my goal is to write a post once a month. I think that is a reasonable goal to shoot for and maintain.
